About Primus Mootry

Primus Mootry Bicycles was born in 1993 as a hobby. I had a desire to build the finest bicycle frames around so I combined my passions: frame building and  racing. From that point on, each Primus Mootry frame has been built to acheive one goal: to reach the finish line first.

All Primus Mootry  frames are hand-built, with great attention to detail.  It is my knowledge of racing and frame materials coupled with testing and experimenting of new technologies that makes a Primus Mootry frame stand out in the crowd.  

 Primus Mootry frames have been raced on the toughest roads, trails and courses throughout the world.  Every new Primus Mootry frame has a bit of heritage taken from those who already own and enjoy (not to mention ride the rubber off) their old Primus Mootrys.

 I taught myself how to build frames using my hands, with nothing more than a hacksaw, hand files and a torch. Today, all cutting, welding and finishing of each frame is still done by hand, but I've expanded my tooling to include a lathe and a mill for cutting tubes, which speeds up build time and further increases accuracy. I believe to make the best frame they cannot be mass-produced or rushed through production.   The meticulous care for each frame from design to delivery cannot be matched.

I race with HART and have 4 Primus Mootry frames - TT, CX and 2 road . Set aside the pure custom aspect of Primus Mootry, the build is great.  Even when Joe was dealing with getting 20 team frames out the door he was open to customizing any little thing you wanted.
